Grand Ole Opry Remembers Devastating Flood

When the weather gets rough, the city of Nashville gets tough. The Grand Ole Opry will remember the first anniversary of the flood the destroyed major parts of Nashville and left the Opry under water.
 
"Play On, Nashville!," will take place on Tuesday, May 3, at the Opry House. Scheduled performers include CMA Entertainer of the Year Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Charlie Daniels Band and others.
 
"It's hard to believe that it's been a year since the flood," said Bentley, an Opry member. "The city of Nashville, the Opry, and the country music community were so resilient and came together to rebuild so quickly after the devastation.  I've never been more proud to be an Opry member, and I'm looking forward to celebrating that sense of community again on Tuesday."

With the stage engulfed in water after the flood, the Grand Ole Opry shows were temporarily moved to various other Nashville venues, and after a six-month restorations, show reconvened at the Opry house.

Nashville charitable organizations including Hands On Nashville, the American Red Cross, and United Way of Metropolitan Nashville will provide promotion codes to their supporters such that $10 from every ticket purchased using the codes will be returned to the charity. Additionally, proceeds from "Play On, Nashville!" commemorative prints available exclusively at the Opry House will go to Hands On Nashville, the volunteer resource center responsible for connecting over 125,000 volunteers to flood-related projects.

Nashvillians who submit photos of their flood relief efforts get the chance to have theirs shown in the Opry’s signature barn backdrop during the show. The photos, which will also be used in the commemorative print from the night, should be submitted tooprymail@opry.com no later than Thursday, April 28.
