Grand Ole Opry Gospel Album Leads to Dove Awards Nominations

The Grand Ole Opry and RCA Records recently released a 12-song gospel CD, How Great Thou Art: Gospel Favorites From The Grand Ole Opry, that ultimately led to several nominations for the Gospel Music Association’s 40th annual Dove Awards, GACtv.com reported. Sara Evans, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson and Brad Paisley, who all appeared on the CD, each received nominations for the Dove Awards, to be held April 23 at the Grand Ole Opry House.    How Great Thou Art is up for Best Special Event Album, while Paisley, Evans and Jackson are all up for a second nomination for their work on the soundtrack, Billy The Early Years, and Gill for his work on the crew of Country Bluegrass Homecoming Volume One.Brooks & Dunn, Josh Turner, Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, Loretta Lynn, Trace Adkins, Ronnie Milsap, Ricky Skaggs, the Whites, Patty Loveless and Marty Stuart are among other Country artists nominated.Before being released as a CD, How Great Thou Art was recorded in front of a packed Opry auditorium on Jan. 20. The 90-minute special featured over 14 musicians.
