1/25/2008 Stephen L. Betts   Carrie Underwood is among the first group of artists announced to perform on the 50th Annual Grammy Awards telecast, Feb. 10 on CBS. Carrie is nominated for two awards, Best Female Vocal Performance and Best Country Collaboration with Vocals with Brad Paisley. In addition, Carrie’s hit “Before He Cheats” is vying for Best Country Song – an award which would go to the song’s writers. One artist who isn’t likely to perform at this year’s event is Vince Gill. The Tennessean reports that Vince’s representatives declined a 90-second slot he was offered, meaning Vince would have only been allowed to sing a brief snippet of one of his songs. Vince’s manager Larry Fitzgerald says he might be the only artist nominated in the all-genre Album of the Year category who will not be performing that night. Nominees Beyonce, Foo Fighters, and Mary J. Blige have been announced as performers at this year’s ceremony.
