“Rhinestone Cowboy” singer, Glen Campbell, 75, told People magazine that he has Alzheimer’s disease and was diagnosed six months ago.

Glen and his wife, Kim, told People that he has been suffering from short term memory loss for years, but they recently found out why.

“Glen is still an awesome guitar player and singer,” says Kim. “But if he flubs a lyric or gets confused on stage, I wouldn’t want people to think, ‘What’s the matter with him? Is he drunk?’”

So the artist has planned a farewell tour for this fall.

“I still love making music,” says Glen. “And I still love performing for my fans. I’d like to thank them for sticking with me through thick and thin.”

The People magazine issue with the exclusive interview with Glen and Kim hits newsstands this Friday.
