10/8/2007 Stephen L. Betts   In just under two hours, Garth Brooks tied his own personal record for selling the highest number of concert tickets in any city in North America. 1 hour and 58 minutes. Tickets went on sale at the Sprint Center in Kansas City this past weekend at 10:00 a.m. for a single show on Nov. 14. That show, originally planned as a thank-you concert for Wal-Mart, turned into a show for the public. Demand was so great that, as promised, Garth added one more show, then another and another, until obligations prevented him from adding more. Nine shows in total were sold out in one hour and 58 minutes. “For the first time in my life, I'm speechless,” said Garth after hearing the news. The added concerts are scheduled from Nov. 5-12. Garth's wife, Trisha Yearwood, will serve as opening act. In spite of Internet sites such as eBay offering tickets for as much as $2300 just minutes after the sell-out, Garth told Kansas City radio station The Wolf that he’s no fan of scalpers. He also vowed he would break his back to make sure everyone who wanted a ticket would get one. Garth Brooks: The Ultimate Hits goes on sale Nov. 6.
