Garth Show in Los Angeles to Be Telecast Live

1/14/2008 Stephen L. Betts   CBS will broadcast Garth Brooks: Live in LA! from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, Fri. Jan. 25 (9:00 p.m., ET/delayed PT). The event is the first of five unprecedented performances Garth will play over a two-day period. As part of his first show on Friday night, Garth’s one-hour special will allow viewers unique access to the kick-off of the two-day, five-show event. Garth is set to perform two concerts on Friday and three on Saturday, Jan. 26, all at STAPLES Center. Selling 85,000 tickets in less than an hour, Garth is the only artist in STAPLES Center history to sell out five concerts in one hour and to play five shows in two days. All proceeds from the five concerts, organized by Garth and AEG (owners of STAPLES Center), and sponsored by American Express and official media sponsor the Los Angeles Times, will be donated to the Southern California 2008 Fire Intervention Relief Effort (F.I.R.E.), a campaign of the McCormick Tribune Foundation. The funds will be granted to agencies providing aid to victims and the first responders of the Los Angeles and San Diego wildfires in addition to providing financial assistance to California firefighting departments and organizations in need of additional or replacement firefighting equipment to better perform their heroic duties.
