Country Music star Garth Brooks was honored this week in Washington, D.C., as he received a Grammy on the Hill award, which recognized his "leadership in advancing the rights of music makers."

Brooks was honored along with US Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), US Representative Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) and the music program of Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Ill.

Brooks was presented his award by President Barak Obama, and according to CMT News, was serenaded with "Friends In Low Places" by the entire group of congressmen, led by Marc Roberge (of the band O.A.R.).

Grammys on the Hill is an annual event that celebrates those on Capitol Hill and in the music industry that use their talent and expertise to promote music makers and their rights.
