Even though he’s retired from touring, Garth Brooks has been making a lot of public appearances lately. He and Trisha Yearwood took part in the opening night of the summer season for the Hollywood Bowl amphitheater Friday night in Los Angeles.

Unfortunately, Brooks didn’t actually sing during his appearance. He introduced the 10th annual Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame concert with Star Wars conductor John Williams. Brooks and Yearwood were also on hand as previous Hall inductees when Josh Groban and classical soprano Kiri Te Kanawa were inducted.

Brooks was inducted in 2000, and Yearwood was added in 2005. During Friday’s concert — which also featured The Who’s Roger Daltrey, among others — Yearwood performed the pop standard "I’ll Be Seeing You," according to The Los Angeles Times. The song was a No. 1 hit for Bing Crosby in 1944 making it an appropriate choice, given that the Bowl usually features classical music and traditional pop.

Garth Brooks fans can see him next at an invitation-only performance Tuesday at the Encore Theatre in Las Vegas.
