4/10/2008 Lisa Ann Schleipfer Scripps' Great American Country network is launching a new reality-competition series to find what they hope will be the next big Country Music hitmaker.  The show will be called The Next GAC Star. Unlike the similar Country Music competition Nashville Star, which moves from the USA Network to NBC in June, The Next GAC Star will pool content from its website. Beginning next month, potential contestants will submit videos of themselves on GACtv.com. The videos will serve as content for the half-hour episodes throughout the summer, with a finale in September. The video format is intended to line up with the channel's music-video format.  The final winner will star in a professionally-produced Country Music video to air on GAC. The conception of the GAC series is being likened to FoodNetwork's The Next Food Network Star and HGTV's HGTV Design Star. All three networks are owned by the same parent company, Scripps Networks. The Next GAC Star will air on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. beginning June 1.
