Fourth & Goal Celebrates A Success

The 1st Smith & Nephew Fourth & Goal Classic on June 28 successfully raised over $50,000 for the Fourth & Goal charity organization and brought together several NFL Hall of Famers, current players and Country Music stars. The event was held at the House of Blues at Showboat Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.The classic started with an opening reception on Friday and was followed by a celebrity golf tournament, silent auction and concert at the House of Blues. Country stars Rachel Bradshaw, Pat Green, Tracy Byrd and Tracy Lawrence performed.Fourth & Goal set out to give financial assistance to NFL retirees and their families who are in immediate need. Several different items at the silent auction brought in thousands of dollars including autographed jerseys from Joe Namath and Dan Marino. Another unique item in the auction was an exclusive photo of the last three Triple Crown winners signed by all three jockeys. Some important NFL stars in attendance include Howie Long of the Oakland Raiders, Terry Bradshaw of the Pittsburgh Steelers and recent Hall of Fame inductee Andre Tippett from the New England Patriots. Former NFL star John Hannah, who helped to organize the event views it as a huge success. “The turnout and overall support, truly exceeded our expectations,” said Hannah in a statement from Fourth & Goal. “We have a need here that must be addressed, not just from a local perspective, but nationally, and these ballplayers’ passion and understanding of our objective validate our initiative! I’m happy to say we’ll do it all again next year!”
