Footloose Gets Country Makeover

Footloose movie poster 2011
Footloose has been an iconic film since its release in 1984, and now the movie is getting a bit of a makeover-- country style. The remake hits theaters October 14, but until then, enjoy some of the classic hits on the upcoming soundtrack, due out September 27.

The 12-track album features music by Big & Rich, Cee Lo Green, Victoria Justice, Zac Brown of Zac Brown Band, Jana Kramer, Hunter Hayes and more. The "Footloose" single is performed by none other than country superstar Blake Shelton, who puts a fresh spin on the title song.

The movie was directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow). Kenny Wormald makes his debut playing Ren MacCormack, originally the part of Kevin Bacon. Ren is a city boy who moves to a small town where loud music and dancing are prohibited, but Ren isn't one to follow orders. Together with Ariel (Julianne Hough), Ren fights the law and brings dancing back to the community.

So go ahead! Crank up the tunes and dance your heart out (…we won't tell).
