12/17/2007 Stephen L. Betts   Singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg, best-known for the poignant lyrics of such country-influenced pop hits as “Longer,” and “Same Old Lang Syne,” died this weekend at his Maine home after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was 56. Although he had only minor hits on the country charts, Fogelberg scored several pop hits throughout the ’70s and ’80s. In 1985, he recorded the bluegrass-influenced album High Country Snows, featuring such guests as Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Doc Watson and Jerry Douglas. “It seems like bluegrass people have more great stories to tell than other musicians,” Fogelberg once said.
