Superstar Faith Hill has been named the new Tide Loads of Hope ambassador, the mobile laundry service that offers clean clothes for families affected by disaster. The Tide Loads of Hope program is revisiting the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, when the laundry program was first launched.

In a press release this week, Hill said of the ambassador appointment, "As a Mississippi native, I have witnessed the damage, both physical and emotional, that Hurricane Katrina inflicted on the Gulf Coast. Since then I have been a champion of the work Tide does to restore a sense of hope and normalcy to those affected by disaster through providing a basic necessity — clean clothing. I am honored to join Tide Loads of Hope as it embarks on its fifth year of supporting communities in times of great need."

For the past five years, the Tide Loads of Hope program has brought free laundry services to communities dealing with major disasters such as Hurricanes Katrina, Gustav, Ike, the California wildfires and, most recently, the floods in Middle Tennessee and Pike County, Ky.

Tide will host Tide Loads of Hope Presents: A Celebration of Hope with Faith Hill, a free concert on Tuesday, Aug. 24,  to take place in New Orleans.
