Faith-Hill-Superbowl-09This year performers Jennifer Hudson and Faith Hill were both selected to kick off the Superbowl in Tampa, Fla. Hill sang “America the Beautiful,” and Hudson followed her, singing the national anthem. But what most people do not know is that both were singing along to previously recorded tracks.According to the Associate Press, the producer of the pre-game show, Rickey Minor, said that lip-syncing was “the right way to do it.” He went on to say, “There's too many variables to go live. I would never recommend any artist go live because the slightest glitch would devastate the performance.”Many fans are shocked to find this out, but Billboard magazine editor, Robert Levine, believes that people are not mad at the fact that artists are lip-syncing, but because they feel they have been “fooled.” Levine suggests in the future to prevent the disappointment of the fans, the producer of the show should put up a disclaimer announcing that it has been previously recorded. As far as future Superbowl performances go, artists will continue to pre-record their songs to make sure nothing goes wrong.
