Capitol Records Nashville recording artist Emily West released her debut single, "Blue Sky," to Country radio this week. Despite being a new artist, West enlisted help on the song from superstar Keith Urban.

After experiencing troubling times from her parents' divorce after 32 years of marriage, West co-penned this heartfelt song with Gary Burr.

“That time period was devastating and so difficult to go throug,h but I needed to let go and just write my pain out on paper,” shared West in a statement. “I’m happy to have experienced the healing process of creating such a personal piece of art and only hope it touches someone else’s life.”

Urban got on board with this project after West sent him the song, and he fell in love with it. Urban said, “Emily West is an original. She had this song she wanted me to hear and it was ‘Blue Sky.’  I just loved it.” Urban plays guitar and lends his vocals to the song.

West will be featured in an upcoming GAC special called, Introducing Emily West. The special will cover everything from when she began her singing career at the age of eight to where she is today, as well as an interview with Urban. West can also be seen in March's People Country issue, currently on stands.
