5/15/2008 Lisa Ann Schleipfer Shock-jocker Howard Stern has stepped over the Country line. Country Music darling Dolly Parton has become the newest farce on Stern’s hit morning show. Dolly Parton falls victim to Howard Stern Last week, quotes from one of Parton's audio books were pieced together to sound as if she were making racist and sexually explicit remarks. The skit opens with Howard telling listeners he is going to play a clip from Parton's new audio book. The fabricated sound bites throw insults at celebrities Linda Ronstadt, Kenny Rogers, Johnny Carson and Burt Reynolds. Parton's response to the show, posted on her website, is as follows: "I have never been so shocked, hurt and humiliated in all my life. I cannot believe what Howard Stern has done to me. In a blue million years, I would never have such vulgar things come out of my mouth. They have done editing or some sort of trickery to make this horrible, horrible thing. Please accept my apology for them and certainly know I had nothing to do with this. If there was ever going to be a lawsuit, it's going to be over this. Just wanted you to know that I am completely devastated by this." Parton isn't the only celebrity to be used in the satellite radio show parodies. Remixed quotes from Oprah, George Takei and William Shatner have also been used on the show. Official word of a lawsuit has not been reported.
