8/28/2007 Dolly Parton debuts her new single “Better Get to Livin’” today (8/28). The track is available exclusively for download at iTunes. My tunes on iTunes, come give me a play,” says Dolly with a laugh.  “Digital Dolly … yep, that’s me.” Written and produced by Dolly with her band leader and guitarist Kent Wells, “Better Get to Livin’” is the first single from the forthcoming CD, titled Backwoods Barbie, due early next year. The disc will be Dolly’s first release on her recently formed Dolly Records, an independent label focused on releases from her own catalog. Backwoods Barbie will be Dolly’s first mainstream country album in over 17 years. She wrote nine of the songs for the album. “The song ‘Backwoods Barbie' pretty much says it all,” says Dolly.  “I grew up poor and ragged, always dreamed of being beautiful like Barbie and the models in the Frederick’s [of Hollywood] catalog.  It’s true that the way I look is just a country girl’s idea of glamour, but it comes from an honest place. The title track from the album is also one of the songs from the forthcoming Broadway musical, 9 to 5, expected to hit New York in the spring of 2009. In conjunction with the launch of her first single, Dolly is also introducing her first authorized music website: www.DollyPartonMusic.net, which is expected to fully launch at the end of September.
