4/10/2008 Staff Country Music artist Dierks Bentley is not just a lover of music.  He is also a lover of hockey. Dierks Bentley on the ice Bentley is among several celebrities to participate in the National Hockey League's second year of playoff weblogs, where stars will regularly discuss their passion for the game.  Gathering more than a dozen famous folks from the television, movie, and music industries, the NHL is bringing these celebrities together to offer fans a unique twist on the run for the Stanley Cup.  Each blog will feature photos, video, and written thoughts on each of their favorite teams. As part of the Western Conference bloggers, Dierks Bentley will be rooting for Music City's own Nashville Predators.  Bentley's blog already includes his own description of his hockey background, snapshots of him on the ice with some of the Predators' players, and a video of the Country Music singer with the Stanley Cup on the Grand Ole Opry stage. Dierks Bentley's own jersey "So I’m excited to be on here to bring you my thoughts on hockey, music, and the Preds’ run in the playoffs," Dierks writes on his blog. "I really got into hockey when I was younger. I used to live in Phoenix and I would skate there, but there was really no hockey there. I moved to Nashville in ’94 and when the Preds came to town, I really got into it. "I love to play the game," Bentley continues. "A guy I performed with loaned me some gear in 2001 and we got into an adult league and that’s really when I started playing. Now I play every week." Some of the other hockey-loving celebrities include David Boreanaz, Geoff Stults, director Jason Reitman, reality tv-star Lauren Conrad, and many others.
