5/14/2008 Mac McKinnon Dierks Bentley plays for contest winner Most recording artists dream of playing to sold-out crowds in giant arenas, but Country Music star Dierks Bentley seems to prefer a more intimate setting. Bentley recently performed for Nancy Richards and 25 of her friends after Richards won the Dierks Bentley Backyard BBQ contest, which was thrown by radio station WUSN in Chicago.  The contest is just one in a series of promotional events that Bentley is doing in response to the recent release of his compilation album, Greatest Hits/Every Mile a Memory 2003-2008. The two-hour Country Music set was determined by audience request, and between songs Bentley added a personal touch, enlightening the crowd with stories from his past. After the show, the Country star took time to meet and greet the fans, whom he says favor the simple lifestyle that his music portrays. "I've got a guitar, a dog, a girl and a truck," Bentley told CMT News. "I don't really need anything else."
