In between songs during his May 20 Washington, D.C., sold-out show, Dierks Bentley shared with his audience that he met with President Obama earlier in the day.

“I went in and dropped off a copy of my latest CD at the Oval Office,” Bentley said.

Bentley was talking about his latest album, Up On the Ridge, that will be released on June 8. No additional information has been made available about the private meeting, but the mention of meeting with Obama was enough to excite Bentley's fans.

He told his presidential story to the fans after thanking them for buying tickets during such a rough time. He also recounted a story from last summer in which he remembers sitting in a bar when he received several text messages on his cell phone. The first one was from Miranda Lambert’s tour manager, reading how President Obama had quoted Bentley during the White House music series.

“I said Country Music was the best shrink $15 can buy,” Bentley repeated.

Bentley’s next concert, which also happens to be sold out, is Saturday, May 22, at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Del McCoury and the Punch Brothers will also be performing.
