10/5/2007 Stephen L. Betts   Deana Carter is previewing her upcoming album The Chain for a few friends on Saturday. Make that 100,000 friends. The University of Tennessee alumna will perform at halftime of the Tennessee vs. Georgia game at Knoxville's massive Neyland Stadium tomorrow (10/6). The album is a tribute to Deana's father, and scrapbook for a childhood spent in the creative environs of artists ranging from Simon and Garfunkel to George Jones. Fred Carter, Jr. is one of the most accomplished session guitar players in music history, having provided the musical bed for iconic songs including Bob Dylan's “Lay Lady Lay,” Neil Young's “Old Man,” Waylon Jennings' “Good Hearted Woman,” and The Band's “The Weight.” For The Chain, Deana went a voyage of discovery in researching her father's impact on popular music, compiling a collection of extraordinary songs, and finally enlisting the participation of artists including Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Paul Simon and his son Harper and Waylon's son Shooter Jennings. The Chain will be released on Tuesday (10/9). And on Oct. 14, Deana will host Fashion for EveryBody 2007 at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. The event, emceed by Anastasia Brown, will benefit the Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee. The purchase of a VIP ticket to the event includes a meet-and-greet with Deana and other participants, and also includes a seat on the runway and an exclusive goodie bag. Several items will be auctioned off, including breakfast with Vince Gill, lunch with Sara Buxton, and a flight for two and meet-and-greet passes to a Keith Urban concert.
