For singer-songwriter Darryl Worley, his past lifestyle has taught him valuable life lessons he will cherish the rest of his life.

Worley sat down with AOL’s The Boot to tell his past of partying and pain during his first marriage. However, Worley said he has left all of that behind when he got married to his second wife, Kimberly.

"A lot of that stuff changed when I got married. A lot of things that I fell into in this career caused me a lot of pain in my first marriage, and looking back on that stuff, I know that most of that was my mistake," Worley told The Boot. "I'm OK with that. It'll never be easy to relive those moments and not feel hurtful things and know that I devastated some people in things I was doing at the time. So, I really made up my mind before I [married] again that I would change and be a different person, and be a more loyal and faithful person, not just in being married to someone, but being a real partner and having full confidence that I'm with the right person. That's the part that really, really matters."

Worley has found that marriage the second time around can be just as tough as the first one. The Tennessee native said keeping a marriage healthy is definitely hard work but worth it.

"The past two or three months, I realized that my wife and I were starting to drift apart because of the child and it being a 24/7 job. I thought, 'Man, I'm not letting this happen. I'm going to figure this out.' So, I started looking at my life and thinking, 'What are you doing still that is taking you away from your family, your special time together?' I've put myself to the ultimate test for the past eight to 10 weeks, and right now I'm winning. When I leave to go on the road the next time, we'll see, but every trip is a challenge. I've totally quit drinking ... and it's made a huge difference," Worley said.

Worley again took a few steps further away from his past when his daughter, Savannah, who is now two-and-a-half years old, was born.

"I just look forward to spending a lot of years with that little redheaded munchkin of mine. She brings the best out of me. She's already taught me patience, and obviously, that's a virtue and one I didn't have, and she's teaching me a lot of other stuff as we go."

Not only are his wife and daughter helping him, but Worley's friends and his faith have also made a difference in his overall outlook on life.

"I've made some little observations here and there, and I'll sum it up for you," he said with conviction. "I have a dear friend, one of my band members, who's going through something really tough right now. He's got a child who's got some symptoms, and they're not really sure what the problem might be, but they're doing a lot of testing and they're putting him through the mill trying to figure out what [is happening]. And Scott told me they were on their way back from Texas, and it was real quiet because everybody else was asleep. He said, 'I was just praying, just praying.' His boy is 13 years old and all these years, everything's been just fine, but you never know what's going to happen. He said, 'God spoke to me, and it was as plain as the nose on my face.' He said, 'My son, I gave my child for you. What will you give up for yours?'" Worley said, choking back tears. "And I just thought, 'You know what? If we all break it down to that level, we'll probably be OK.' I think I'm headed in the right direction."
