Darius Rucker is back in the studio working on his second Country Music project. Now that he’s won the Country Music Association’s New Artist of the Year award, he’s feeling less pressure in the studio.

“We have already recorded a couple of sessions for the new album,” he told The Toledo Free Press, according to GACtv.com. “With the first album we felt all kinds of pressure because we did not know what was going to happen; now, all we have to do is deliver the songs, and radio is probably going to play it. It’s up to us to come up with the great songs. I feel more relaxed in the studio this time.”

Rucker also said recording in Nashville is much more relaxing compared to the high-intensity Hootie & The Blowfish recording sessions he was used to. “When we recorded the Hootie albums, we went in for six weeks or so and made the record,” he said. Now, “I do a couple of days [in Nashville], then go back and work on vocals and new tracks a couple of weeks later. The only time I wish I didn’t live in Charleston is when I am in Nashville recording.”

Rascal Flatts will make an appearance on Rucker’s new album, which will also include a song Rucker co-wrote with American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi. No release date has been determined for the new music. Meanwhile, Rucker will continue touring with Rascal Flatts on their American Living Unstoppable tour.
