Three years ago Darius Rucker attended the Academy of Country Music Awards, but then he was just a presenter and a recent crossover from his days as the lead singer of Hootie and The Blowfish. Now, Rucker has three No. 1 Country hits to his name and is going back to the ACM Awards, this time as a nominee for Top Male Vocalist of the Year.

After learning that he had been nominated for such a coveted award, Rucker said, “My management called and told me to turn on the TV to The Early Show, and I couldn’t believe they read my name. I feel so blessed to have been embraced and considered a contender in this format. I’m in the same category as George Strait, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, and Kenny Chesney. Wow.”
Rucker stepped onto the Country Music scene in 2007 after signing with Capital Records Nashville. He has experienced great success in the industry, starting with his 2008 debut album, Learn to Live. He followed that success with three consecutive No. 1 hits and currently has a Top 5 single with "History in the Making."
He already received the 2009 CMA New Artist Award and will join Brad Paisley on later this year.  Hoping to build on the success of his first Country album, Rucker is currently working on recording his second project.
