The Grand Ole Opry has officially invited Country singer Craig Morgan to become their newest member in October. The Opry extended the invite to Morgan during a special concert at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. The induction to this special group of Country legends will take place Saturday, Oct. 25.Morgan’s concert at Fort Bragg was like a homecoming for him. He was stationed at the base as a member of the U.S. Army from 1990 to 1992. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division for ten years. Country singer John Conlee surprised Morgan with the invite, according to Morgan’s fan club letter. Conlee started out by asking Morgan where he planned on being Oct. 25. When he replied he didn’t know, Conlee told him he was going to be inducted as a member of the Opry.Opry vice president and general manager Pete Fisher describes this as the perfect time to invite Morgan to be a member.“Craig consistently displays such a high degree of quality and integrity in all he does, from serving our country, to making great Country Music, to his frequent performances at the Grand Ole Opry,” said Fisher to Morgan’s Web site. “Whether at a military institution or on the Opry stage, audiences admire his character and love his music. We look forward to welcoming him into the Opry family on October 25."
