Country Stars On Sony BMG Online Music Service

3/27/2008 Lisa Ann Schleipfer Sony BMG Music Entertainment is developing an online music subscription service.  The company includes several music labels, including country music labels Arista Nashville and Sony BMG Nashville. Sony BMG Nashville's roster includes Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Kellie Pickler, Martina McBride, Brad Paisley, Montgomery Gentry, Keith Anderson, Brooks & Dunn and others. CEO Rolf Schmidt-Holtz of Sony BMG told a German newspaper Monday that the service would give users unlimited access to its music and be compatible with a host of digital music players. The newspaper quoted the chief executive "simplest option would be a flat rate” fee per month, which translates to a fee of $9 to $12.  This would include unlimited download to Sony BMG’s entire music catalog.  Downloads would be compatible with all music players.  It is possible the service will include the ability to download songs to a cell phone. A timeline for the unveiling of the service is not known.
