2/8/2008 Webb Hi again from CountryHound's official mascot (and psychic) Webb, with more of my country music Grammy predictions. Today, I'm sniffing out two big catgeories: Best Country Song and Best Country Album. Plus, be sure to jump on over to today's editions of AMERICANA SPIRIT and WHERE THE BLUEGRASS GROWS for my predicitions there! THE NOMINEES Best Country Song ·          “Before He Cheats” Songwriters: Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins Recorded by: Carrie Underwood ·         “Give It Away” Songwriters: Bill Anderson, Buddy Cannon and Jamey Johnson Recorded by: George Strait ·         “I Need You” Songwriters: Tony Lane and David Lee Recorded by: Tim McGraw and Faith Hill ·         “If You’re Reading This” Songwriters: Tim McGraw, Brad Warren and Brett Warren Recorded by: Tim McGraw ·         “Long Trip Alone” Songwriters: Brett Beavers, Dierks Bentley and Steve Bogard Recorded by: Dierks Bentley WEBB SAYS: While I'm tempted to say that George Strait and the "Give It Away" writers should be the winners here, there's not much chance of snatching this bone from Carrie Underwood and writers Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins. Besides, I know I look cute and innocent, but I've torn up a few leather seats in my day, so I can relate. Best Country Album ·         Long Trip Alone Dierks Bentley ·         These Days Vince Gill ·         Let It Go Tim McGraw ·         5th Gear Brad Paisley ·         It Just Comes Natural George Strait WEBB SAYS: Since the (usually) invincible Vince Gill doesn't stand much of a chance against Kanye West in the overall Best Album category, he's pretty likely to take this Grammy home (to add it to the 18 he's already got!) However, for making the best drive-around-in-the-truck-with-your-head-out-the-window country album of the year, my vote goes to Brad Paisley.  Let me know what YOU think! Write to me at webb@countryhound.com And don't miss the 50th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, broadcast live at 8 p.m. (ET) on CBS-TV.
