Country Thunder Records, a Nashville-based record label, reluctantly shut down the recording studios and locked the doors today, due in part to the recession and spiraling stock market crash.
Musicians on the label consisted of Heartland, Shawn Hammonds, Bluefield and Burns & Poe, and Keith Burns and Michelle Poe.
Founder Herb Graham believes that about 70 percent of his investment in the label is gone, but admits to running the label through his portfolio, consisting of his dividends. “My dividends were cut by about 85 percent on my stock.
After a long battle to keep afloat, Graham had to lay off half of the 10-man staff that was running the label. Though not an easy decision to close up shop, Graham simply cut his losses and moved on.
Graham currently manages Rio Grand, runs a publishing company and owns nightclubs in Tennessee, Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Arizona, Kansas and Oklahoma.
