Country Throwdown Tour Cancellations

The Country Throwdown tour has cancelled performances in the following cities: Houston (6/9), Dallas (6/10), San Diego (6/17) and Phoenix (6/18). The Bakersfield date, which was originally set for 6/16, has been postponed to 6/18. Tickets from the cancelled shows will be honored at all other Country Throwdown performances and refunds are available at the point of purchase.

 

“After many attempts to keep these shows, we’re regretfully unable to bring Throwdown to these four markets,” Kevin Lyman, Tour Producer, said. He also stated that the reasons for the cancellations have to do with too many shows competing with one another.

 

“We are trying to bring a festival style tour with 21 artists, at a reasonable and fair ticket price (average ticket cost $31), but because most markets are currently flooded with shows, we end up cannibalizing one another and someone ends up with lower ticket sales.”

 

This is the first year for the Country Showdown tour, which mixes Country Music artists with other singer/songwriters in a festival environment. As a result, Lyman expected to learn a few lessons along the way. While four shows for this year's tour have been cancelled, he said he has learned how to make next year's tour even better.

 

The Country Throwdown tour has already seen crowds consisting of up to 13,500 fans. Fans and performers have shown great enthusiasm about the tour, and Lyman sends out “our sincere apologies” about the cancellations. For the markets that were cancelled, watch out for next year’s tour.
