Country Stars Shine at Gospel Awards

4/25/2008 Webb There were several Country Music stars honored at the Gospel Music Association’s 39th Annual Dove Awards Wednesday night.  The event was held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.  LeAnn Rimes and Ricky Skaggs received trophies. LeAnn Rimes picked up some metal for her contribution to the Evan Almighty soundtrack, "Ready For A Miracle," which was named Traditional Gospel Recorded Song of the Year. Also Ricky Skaggs & The Whites’ Salt Of The Earth earned top Bluegrass Album. And Sawyer Brown’s Mark Miller also took home an honor as producer of Casting Crowns’ The Altar And The Door, honored as the top Pop/Contemporary Album. Carrie Underwood’s producer, Mark Bright, won for his work on the Isaacs’ Big Sky, voted best Country Album. Bernie Herms, who often plays keyboards for Brad Paisley, won Song of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song as a co-writer of Casting Crowns’ "East To West."
