Naturally, Dean Miller, son of country great Roger Miller, would pursue a career in the music business. But after three different record deals, he started to seek a new best friend.
That brought Dean to the dogs. It seems canines are his other love.
"I got a little tired of the struggle and I said, 'What do I love as much as music?' and it's dogs,” he told Music City TV. Growing up with dogs, Dean discovered they had a special bond, so he went to kennels and dog pounds, and started to study their behavior. Since then he's found he can help people with dog difficulties. Now, he keeps up a successful business, built upon teaching dogs new tricks. Dean teaches dog owners how to train via voice, touch, and other traits. But his dedication does come with its fair share of danger.
"...I almost lost a finger to a dog one time," Dean says. "I’ve had my face bitten. I've had my hands bitten. You can't just say, ‘OK, one guy punched me in the face, therefore all people are bad.’ This dog bit me. The next dog won't."  His cost is $150 for a 60 to 90 minute session, but he says it usually only takes one session. For more information on Dean's dog dealings, visit www.thedogcounselor.com .
