The Country Music Hall of Fame and Shout! Factory have partnered to produce a series of specials to appear on television and be available for DVD distribution. The Shout! Factory’s founding partners Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos, along with Kyle Young, director of the Country Music Hall of Fame made the announcement Tuesday. Two award-winning producers, David Leaf and Morgan Neville, will be taking on the daunting task of putting together a history of Country Music. The two have worked on documentaries of John Lennon, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. They will be attempting to cover the following themes in the series:  The Roots of Country and Bluegrass, The Honky Tonk Tradition, Outlaw Country, The Nashville Sound, The Politics of Country, Country Songs and Songwriters, California Country and No Depression, that looks at the history of alternative country. According to Leaf and Neville, looking at Country Music through these various themes gives a more detailed account of the topic. They will seek the stories of today’s Country artists to give a better picture of their road to greatness and how the past influenced them. Those involved predict the project will take roughly two years to complete. According to an article from the Bluegrass News Network, Kyle Young believes the series will help to expand the audience for Country Music. “We anticipate that this series will both allow fans to revisit some of country music’s greatest moments and characters, as well as shine a spotlight on lesser known but instrumental forces that made the music what it is today, all within the larger context of 19th and 20th century America,” said Young.
