Could Joaquin Phoenix Be the Next Country Star?

With the recent announcement that he plans to quit acting and focus on music, some are wondering if Joaquin Phoenix could be the next Country Music star.Phoenix, who portrayed Johnny Cash in the 2005 biographical drama, Walk the Line, received critical praise for his singing in the film and on the soundtrack. Phoenix also learned to play the guitar for his Academy Award nominated performance. Additionally, Phoenix has directed music videos for indie-rock bands such as She Wants Revenge, Ringside, People in Planes, Arckid, Albert Hammond Jr. and Silversun Pickups. At this time, there is no word on what musical genre Phoenix wishes to pursue. Phoenix’s next -- and presumably last -- film, Two Lovers, premieres in February 2009.
