1/16/2008 Stephen L. Betts When Kenny Chesney’s 2008 Poets & Pirates tour sponsor Corona Extra decided to take the sponsor bus to their annual meetings in Arizona, decked out with the Poets & Pirates logo and graphics, no one was imagining the excitement that would arise from the bus driver pulling off the highway in Oklahoma to fill up the gas tank for the final stretch of the trip to the convention site. While pumping gas, the driver noticed a swarm of people beginning to gather around the bus. As the moments passed, the numbers were doubling and tripling until a mob had gathered, rendering the bus unable to move. “It's crazy,” says Kenny, who was not on the bus, but got the call about the incident from a sponsorship rep. The singer initially thought the whole thing was a joke. “Turns out they had to get a police escort to get the bus out of there, because - literally - the bus couldn't move for all the people. It's a new driver for us, too, so I think they were a little shook up and embarrassed to need police back-up to get out of a truck stop.”   Earlier this week, Kenny announced that the upcoming tour would include stops at 14 NFL stadiums this summer.
