Compete For A Chance To Perform at The CMA Music Festival

Budding songwriters have the opportunity to appear at the CMA Music festival in the Tune Up for COPD Songwriting Competition, a challenge to produce a song with a positive message encouraging people to take control of their lives and be healthy.

Billy Ray Cyrus and Patty Loveless signed on as DRIVE4COPD Ambassadors last year. COPD is the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. and kills more people each year than breast cancer and diabetes combined.  Of the estimated 24 million Americans who have COPD, half don’t know it.

Last year, Patty wrote and performed the original DRIVE4COPD anthem, “Drive,” in memory of her sister, who died of COPD at the young age of 48. Billy Ray hosted the DRIVE4COPD Pavilion on the CMA Awards Black Carpet and shot public service announcements and a viral video that will begin airing soon.

Entering the Tune Up for COPD Songwriting Competition is simple. Contestants can upload lyrics and a video on TuneUpForCOPD.com from now through April 14, 2011. The website also includes detailed instructions and complete contest rules. Both Billy Ray and Patty will serve on a panel of judges, and a winner will earn the opportunity to perform at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville in June.

If you haven't already done so, please take a brief, five-question screener at DRIVE4COPD.COM to see if you might be at risk for COPD.
