4/14/2008 Don’t miss this year’s Country Music Television Awards, airing tonight at 8:00 p.m.ET/CT on Country Music Television (CMT). Hosted by Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus, the show presents performances from Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, LeAnn Rimes, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, and Carrie Underwood. The host and hostess also will offer up a special performance. The 7th-annual awards show will be held at Nashville’s Curb Event Center at Belmont University. The 2008 CMT Music Awards are determined completely by the fans. Country Music fans have been voting for their favorite artists since February. Artist videos are nominated in a variety of categories, such as tearjerker of the year, performance of the year and breakthrough artist. Videos eligible for nomination debuted between Jan. 16, 2007, and Jan. 17, 2008. Finalists were determined by a panel of Country Music journalists and CMT executives. Polls will be opened for the final time during the broadcast. Voting is available online or via text message for Verizon subscribers. If you miss the voting, Tuesday will offer another exciting opportunity to interact with your favorite Country Music star. CMT One Country will present an online auction of items donated from the awards show participants. Items donated include everything from a Miley Cyrus-signed guitar to a shirt worn by Faith Hill to a pair of autographed jeans from Keith Urban. All proceeds will benefit CMT Country Partners, which include charities such as the Boys and Girls Club and Habitat for Humanity.
