CMT Awards Ratings Hit

The CMT Music Awards won the attention of fans on-air and on-line. On Wednesday, June 8, about 2.9 million viewers tuned in to see the entertainment and watch the awards. Combined with the encore presentation, a total of 4.2 million viewers watched, making it the best ever two play performance for the franchise.
 
 
 
The show became the most watched network and the number 1 rated cable program for the day among women ages 18-49. The 2011 CMT MUSIC AWARDS also became the highest-rated among Teens, Females 12-17 and P12-24 in franchise history.
 
Digitally, CMT.com received 265,000 unique visitors up 40% from last year. And 38% of that comes from Twitter. Fans mentioned hashtag #CMTawards more than 325 times per minute creating a total of 30,00 total Twitter mentions throughout the evening.
 
Highlights such as Shania Twain and Taylor Swift’s rendition of “Thelma and Louise” and the appearance of Justin Bieber had people tuning in and will have them return on the re-air dates of Thursday, June 9 at 9:00 p.m.; Saturday, June 11 at 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.; Sunday, June 12 at 2:00 p.m.; Wednesday, June 15 at 8:00 p.m.; Friday, June 24 at 11:00 p.m.; and Sunday, June 26 at 6:30 p.m. All times Eastern.
 
Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown Band, and Luke Bryan held the top four of the top five selling country downloads with songs included in the live show within an hour of the show. Jason Aldean’s “Dirt Road Anthem” is currently in the #1 spot and the just released remix is #8 on the iTunes Country chart.
