CMT Announces Television Movie Division

CMT will soon be known for not only the music they play but their made-for-television movies as well.
The new array of movies comes with the creation of "CMT Original Movies." This new division will feature movies for the network focusing mostly on romantic comedies and music-based films.
"We’ve had great ratings success programming with acquired theatrical romantic comedies," said Mary Beth Cunin, Senior Vice President of Programming Strategy at CMT. "So it is only natural for us to create original stories that are tailor made for the CMT audience."
The first two movies will be rolling out later this summer. These movies will include “To The Mat,” which is the working title, featuring Ricky Schroder (“24,” “NYPD Blue”) as well as Laura Bell Bundy (“Leagally Blond: The Musical,” “How I Met Your Mother,” Universal Nashville Recording artist).
The second of the two is “Reel Love,” starring Grammy Award-winning country artist and actress LeAnn Rimes.
Both of the "CMT Original Movies" will be produced by Entertainment One Television.
