"Winning the Telstra Road to Tamworth is an incredible dream," Rae said in a press release this week. "I'm now working with some of the best people in the business as both a performer and songwriter." Rae began singing professionally at the age of 16. In 2007 she was the lead singer of alternative-country band Jazz Lazzo. A songwriter, Rae will feature several of her own songs on the debut album. Among them is "Country Girl," which she performed at the Telstra Road to Tamworth Grand Final performance in January. The Telstra Road to Tamworth talent competition and music festival is held in the city of Tamworth, New South Wales in Australia. It boasts more than 50,000 visitors each January and offers some 2,000 events in a huge 10-day celebration of Country Music.
