2/17/2007 Stephen L. Betts With Christmas approaching, and artists winding down their tour schedules for the year, many recall their favorite gifts and special memories. Trisha Yearwood says Christmas is her favorite holiday. She loves getting together with the family and decorating, and says now that she and husband Garth Brooks have been married for two years, they're trying to start their own traditions, like buying new ornaments for their Christmas tree. Bucky Covington says his favorite gift for Christmas was a dirt bike, but says his stepfather might not share the same affection for that gift. “Me and my brother got our first dirt bike. It was a 1984 Honda Z-50,” says Bucky. “Me and my brother knew how to ride bikes. We’d always go over to my dad’s and ride bikes. So when we were at my mom’s house with my mom and my stepfather, my stepfather was going to show us how to ride the motorcycle, which we already knew how. He rides around the yard one time, and busts his tail.” Trent Tomlinson’s favorite gift was a BB gun, although he didn’t have it for long. “Man, did I enjoy that for one day. I got it on the 25th and got it taken away on the 26th.” And newcomer Sarah Buxton says she and her family don’t have too many Christmas traditions because “by the time December gets her my parents are always ready to escape to some island. So we eat, like, weird foods and do weird things. But we always drink mimosas** in the morning.” *The mimosa, reportedly invented at the Ritz Hotel in Paris around 1925, is made by combining orange juice and champagne.
