Country singer Chris Young, along with longtime Charlie Daniels manager David Corlew have been named to the Stars For Stripes Board of Directors. Both men will serve for one year at the non-profit organization that provides celebrity entertainment to internationally deployed American troops.

“Having the opportunity to travel overseas last year and interact with the men and women serving in Iraq and Germany really had a profound effect on me,” said Young.  “Stars For Stripes does so much for our troops in the way of providing entertainment, moral support and just bringing them a little taste of home while they're away, so I'm incredibly honored to serve as a board member for an organization that has nothing but the troops' best interests in mind. I'm looking forward to doing whatever I can to support our men and women overseas.”

Young and Corlew are both actively involved in supporting the efforts of the men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces. Young concluded his first Stars For Stripes tour in 2009 as his hit, “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song),” climbed to No. 1 on the charts. Young visited military bases in Iraq and Germany with fellow Country artist Craig Morgan, GAC host Nan Kelley and former Armed Forces servicemen SFC Joe Bowser (U.S. Army Retired) and SSGT Scott Lilley (USAF).

David Corlew has made numerous trips overseas to support the troops, both as Charlie Daniels’ manager and as owner of his own film company, d. corlew films. In 2009, Corlew made his third trip to Iraq to document Daniels’ tour of military bases in the Middle East and was also a participant on Young’s Stars For Stripes tour.

“I have had the opportunity to work with Judy Seale and Stars For Stripes in many different capacities,” said Corlew. “I am honored to be appointed to the Stars For Stripes board, as it will allow me to continue my life journey in supporting the men and women of the armed forces that defend the freedoms of our great country.”

The more recent Stars For Stripes tour, featuring artist Darryl Worley, departed April 27. The “We’ve Not Forgotten” tour will feature acoustic and full-band performances by Worley at various military bases in Iraq.
