Country music hall of famer Charlie Louvin, one half of legendary duo The Louvin Brothers, will release two new albums before the end of 2008.

The first album, Steps to Heaven, will premiere September 16th and will include ten traditional gospel songs. The second album will be titled Charlie Louvin Sings Murder Ballads & Disaster
Songs
and will be released December 9th.

About the gospel album, Louvin says, “I did things on the record I had no idea I could do. I'd be thinking along the way, how can I do things I've never done before? And I did it."

The second album’s theme might be puzzling to fans, but they need look no further than The Louvin Brothers’ debut album in 1956 for its inspiration. Tragic Songs of Life highlights the darker side of love and Louvin remade two of the songs from that album to go along with nine remakes from Tompkins Square’s recent Grammy-nominated 3-CD box set People Take Warning.

Louvin’s 2007 self-titled album received a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Folk Album.
