Charlie Daniels Can't Believe Opry Honor

12/14/2007 Stephen L. Betts Charlie Daniels says he never even dreamed that he'd be invited into the Opry membership, noting, “To think that my name will be added along with all these greats of country music is hard to believe.” He received his invite last month, and is slated to be officially inducted on Jan. 19. Dierks Bentley admits he’s a little embarrassed to have become a member of the Grand Ole Opry before Charlie Daniels. Dierks became the Opry's youngest member when he joined the cast in 2005, but that title now belongs to Josh Turner, who at 29 this year was the youngest person ever asked to join the Opry roster. The Grand Ole Opry cast runs the gamut from veteran entertainers such as Jack Greene, who just celebrated his 40th anniversary with the show, to more modern stars including Garth Brooks, Trace Adkins, Trisha Yearwood and Martina McBride.
