Charlie Daniels Celebrates His 75th Birthday With Help From The Grand Ole Opry

Charlie Daniels on Grand Ole Opry

Charlie Daniels is turning 75 and there is only one way to celebrate this milestone – a birthday party at The Grand Ole Opry® presented by Humana®. The party will go on during the two Opry shows on Sat., Oct. 29. To help celebrate the event, Opry member Clint Black, plus special guests The Grascals, Lee Greenwood, Tanya Tucker, and more will perform.

Daniels became a member of The Grand Ole Opry in 2008. His 50 plus career years have been made up of hits on rock, country, pop, and Christian charts. He has received several awards from the Country Music Association, Academy of Country Music, the Gospel Music Association and has won a Grammy.

His signature song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” brought him to international acclaim while it topped both the country and pop charts. He was raised in North Carolina listening to Pentecostal gospel, local bluegrass bands, rhythm and blues, and country music. His support of American troops as well as his down-to-earth philosophy has garnered his reputation as a true American patriot.

“Charlie is without a doubt one of the greatest all-around entertainers to have ever hit the Opry stage,” said Pete Fisher, Opry vice president and general manager. “When the night calls for him to perform crowd favorites and to bring some of his best friends along for a milestone birthday celebration, you know we’re in for two unforgettable shows.”
