Canadian Country Music Nominees Announced

8/1/2007 Gene Curran Seasoned country performer George Canyon and first-time nominee Shane Yellowbird lead the ballot for the 2007 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Awards, announced today, George garnered five nominations in major categories, including Single and Album of the Year, and the coveted Fans' Choice Award. Shane received five major nominations including Chevy Rising Star and Independent Male Artist. Paul Brandt, Doc Walker, Emerson Drive, Brad Johner, and Carolyn Dawn Johnson, all scored four nominations each.   The awards show will take place Sept. 10 at the Brandt Centre, in Regina, Saskatchewan.   A complete list of CCMA Awards and Industry Awards nominees is available online at www.ccma.org.
