Carrie Underwood was in the spotlight last week, having her name called three times as the nominees were announced for the 44th Annual ACM Awards. One nomination was particularly significant for the superstar: Entertainer of the Year.Underwood's nomination is the first time in six years that a female has been considered for the top honor. The last time was in 2003, when the Dixie Chicks got an Entertainer nomination."Girls don’t get nominated for Entertainer of the Year," Underwood told Access Hollywood. "It’s been a very long time since a girl’s been nominated, so to be in that category, it’s so amazing. It’s wonderful."Six women have won the ACM’s Entertainer of the Year in the past: Loretta Lynn in 1976; Dolly Parton, 1978; Barbara Mandrell, 1981; Reba McEntire, 1995; Shania Twain, 2000; and the Dixie Chicks, 2001.This is Underwood's first nomination for Entertainer. The last artist to win the Entertainer trophy the first year they received the nomination was Garth Brooks in 1991.
