Carrie Underwood Receives Harmony Award

Carrie Underwood has a lot to celebrate this holiday season. On top of her first Christmas television special, the blonde bombshell received the 2009 Harmony Award at the Symphony Ball Sat. Dec. 12 at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
The Harmony Award is presented every year at Nashville’s Symphony Ball to individuals who have demonstrated continual interest and support in the city. Each recipient has exemplified harmony among the many genres of music that exist in Nashville and contributed to the development and appreciation of the city’s musical culture.

Nashville’s Symphony Ball is a white tie, invitation-only event benefiting the Nashville Symphony and its music outreach programs. This year was the 25th anniversary of the event.
“The honor is a wonderful compliment and it’s an amazing feeling being part of the Nashville community,” Underwood said in a news release. “It was a beautiful evening filled with wonderful music, gorgeous ball gowns and décor and was definitely an evening to remember.”
Previous recipients of the award include Amy Grant, LeAnn Rimes, Michael W. Smith, Tony Brown, Mike & Linda Curb, Lyle Lovett, Trisha Yearwood, Dolly Parton, The Judds, Steve Winwood, Vince Gill, Wynonna and Naomi Judd, Chet Atkins, Rascal Flatts and Martina McBride.
