11/27/2007 Stephen L. Betts   “Buck Owens told me, ‘Son, you need to hit that bass note that you sing in every song because that's really all that you got going for you,’” Trace Adkins recalls with a smile. On Dec. 1 (9 p.m. ET), Trace will take that trademark baritone to the television screen with Trace Adkins: American Man -- his first GAC concert special. The one-hour special weaves together Trace’s vocal talents with several humorous personal anecdotes. GAC was recently announced as the official sponsor of Trace’s 2008 American Man tour. “I love everything about being on stage,” says Trace. “It's really the only place where I'm in charge and in control of what's happening. You sing a song, see somebody smiling and clapping, there you go.” There are plenty of smiles and laughs to go around as Trace takes the GAC cameras along for a ride in his pickup in the city of Lebanon, Tenn., to reflect on his journey to stardom. Adventures include a trip to the local barbershop, a serenade from a female fan, a hilarious recollection of a long-forgotten incident involving the city jail and being approached for an autograph by the “meanest man in town.” Trace, who's known for speaking his mind, also talks about the idea behind his recently released book, A Personal Stand: Observations and Opinions of a Freethinking Roughneck.  “With me, what you see is what you get,” says Trace. “I don't put on any airs, I don't pull punches, and most important, I don't take myself too seriously.” On Sunday, Dec. 2, at noon, Trace will perform the national anthem at Nashville's LP Field, where the Tennessee Titans will take on the Houston Texans. And in other Trace news, he recently became the first country artist ever to launch an album preorder/concert ticket presale with iTunes and Ticketmaster. His American Man, Greatest Hits, Vol. II is due for release Dec. 4, and is currently available for preorder at the iTunes Store. For two weeks fans will be able to pre-order the 13-track special bundled album for only $9.99. This album will include not only the 13 tracks (listed below) but will include eight of Trace’s music videos (noted below with *), and a special digital booklet. Those who preorder the album will receive a passcode for access to a www.ticketmaster.com presale for the opportunity to purchase tickets to 15 dates on Trace’s upcoming 2008 tour before they go on sale to the public.  The Ticketmaster.com presale is for Trace’s concerts in Bangor, ME; Lincoln, NE; Saginaw, MI; Toledo, OH; La Crosse, WI; Grand Forks, ND; Sioux City, IA; North Charleston, SC; Asheville, NC; Columbus, GA; Pompano Beach, FL; Wheeling, WV; Fairfax, VVA; Hershey, PA and Lowell, MA. The presale is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 5:00 p.m. (local time) and tickets are scheduled to go on sale to the general public on Friday, Dec. 7.
