8/24/2007 Stephen L. Betts Award-winning songwriter Bobby Braddock will give a rare public performance at Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 2:00 p.m. He's the third composer to be honored in the Museum’s quarterly programming series Poets and Prophets: Legendary Country Songwriters.  The program, which will be held in the Museum’s Ford Theater, is included with Museum admission or free to Museum members. In addition to performing some of his best-known songs, Braddock will sit down with Museum Editor Michael Gray for an in-depth, one-on-one interview, illustrated with audio-visual elements from the Museum’s collection, including vintage recordings, photos and film clips.  Immediately following the program, he's scheduled to sign copies of his new memoir, Down in Orburndale: A Songwriter’s Youth in Old Florida, in the Museum Store. Bobby Braddock has written No. 1 country songs in each of the last five decades, including “D-I-V-O-R-C-E” (Tammy Wynette, 1968), “Golden Ring” (George Jones and Tammy Wynette, 1976), “He Stopped Loving Her Today” (George Jones, 1980), “Time Marches On” (Tracy Lawrence, 1996) and “I Wanna Talk About Me” (Toby Keith, 2001).  He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1981. Previous Poets and Prophets honorees include Hank Cochran and John D. Loudermilk.
