CMA co-host Brad Paisley walked off stage at last night's CMA Awards with two awards - Male Vocalist of the Year and Musical Event of the Year. The latter was awarded for his critically acclaimed and highly praised work with fellow Country sensation Keith Urban on "Start a Band."
"Start a Band" was originally intended to be an instrumental for the Paisley's Play album; but it was quickly decided that a combination of the duo singing and picking strings would deliver a much more well-rounded single.
The Boot reported Paisley saying, "Keith said he felt like a vehicle like this was a great way to convey the message of two guitar players havin' a ball. And the theme of the song really does fit with that."
Paisley rivaled Taylor Swift in the Album of the Year category for his album, American Saturday Night. Despite losing to Swift, who ultimately collected four CMA Awards last night, Paisley revealed that American Saturday Night is his most authentic and honest albums of his career to date.
"I feel like this album is finding my soul...a little more than the others. I would say that this record is...as honest as I can be."
